Other Brockbank families

In my research, I’ve come across many other interesting Brockbank families from south Lakes. The 2020 lockdown has given me plenty of time to write about them! As far as I can tell, our Hawkshead branch of the family isn’t related to these branches, but the stories are intriguing:

George Brockbank (1846–1914), yacht builder
Born in Bowness and built the steam yachts Bat and Branksome now in Windermere Jetty Museum

Robert Atkinson Brockbank (1784–1863), parfumier
Born in Cartmel and died at Heysham Tower, Robert married into a London family and became a partner in their perfume business on New Bond Street. His older sister Sarah Brockbank married Captain William Linton, a Liverpool mariner. Their son was William Linton 1791–1876 the landscape painter

John Brockbank (1857–1941), builder
Born in Coniston, built in Ravenstondale, Windermere and Kirkby Stephen
